Summer 2016

We spend all year planning and praying for the summer months, and now we're in the middle of Summer 2016! We have 350 young, energetic staff who are giving their all to make sure our guests are having an unforgettable camp experience. As many of you know, our theme this summer is "Who Are You?" We have already had the opportunity to see young guests discover they are brave, confident, accepted, loved, and so much more. Guests have gotten up on water-skis for the first time, dropped in on the half pipe, made the courageous leap on the zip line, had the time of their lives during evening program, and made lasting friendships. Thank you so much for all your prayers. Please continue to be praying for transformative experiences for every guest who drives through the front gate. Check out our recap video from Week 1 here.

Our CITYCAMP team loaded up the truck with 18 activities and hit the road, bringing a taste of Muskoka Woods to cities across the GTA. Our first week was at Pickering College in Newmarket, and then we visited Springvale Church in Stouffville and The Bridge Church in Markham. We were spoiled with beautiful weather, giving us plenty of opportunity to enjoy our mobile water park. Over the next four weeks, we will travel to Burlington, Oakville and Toronto. We are thrilled to explore our theme, “Who are You?” with our guests. We have had many encouraging conversations with children who come from all walks of life. Pray for our team, as they journey with our guests, that they will be “a living exhibition of life with God.” Check out our recap video from Week 1 here.

Duncan & Sandee Macgregor

Duncan and Sandee (Mudge) Macgregor celebrated 20 years of marriage on July 19, 2016. Duncan worked on Ski Staff from 1989-1991, and Sandee spent the summer of 1990 as a Trampoline and Gymnastics Instructor. Duncan and Sandee reside in Halton Hills, and attend Harvest Bible Chapel in Oakville. Duncan is approaching his 25th year as the third-generation family-business owner of Macgregors Meat & Seafood Ltd. in Toronto. Sandee continues homeschooling adventures with their three youngest kids. Their children are Christopher (17), who graduated from CEO in 2015 and is now on summer staff, Jack (15), Samantha (13), Sara (9), and Katie (5).

"We, as a couple, have trouble articulating the blessing Muskoka Woods – and the many lifelong friends we made there – has been in our lives. The Holy Spirit moves at Muskoka Woods. We are just one example of His plan in action, simply having met one another the summer of 1990. It is an honour and a privilege to serve on the Muskoka Woods Youth Foundation Board and continue to stay so connected. Thank you Mr. and Mrs. Boddy for your vision so many years ago!"

Jon & Deb Imbeau

Jon worked from 1989-1994 in the Dish Pit, as a Junior High Counsellor, and 3 years as a Senior High Counsellor. Deb worked in 1994 as a Senior High Counsellor. They were married in February after meeting at Muskoka Woods. They have 4 kids: Benett (16), Abby (14), William (11), and Charlie (5). They attend Living Waters Pentecostal Church in Vancouver. Jon is the Executive Director for Awana International Canada and Deb is at home with the kids.

"Muskoka Woods was one of the most formative experiences of my life. This is where I learned to lead and how to share the love of Jesus with others."
--Jon Imbeau

Impact Romania

Our Impact Romania team arrived back in Canada on May 26th. It is always a privilege for Tina and Mike Barlow to participate in this mission, initiated in May 2001 by a team of Muskoka Woods' staff. Since the initial trip, Impact Romania, a partnership between International Teams and its Romanian counterpart, Pas Cu Pas, has established a fruitful ministry to young, institutionalized orphans. Over 130 Muskoka Woods' staff have participated on these teams over that time. It has been amazing to watch and participate in what God is doing in the lives of young people through Pas Cu Pas (Romanian for "Step by Step"). Romanian staff and volunteers have invested in this ministry with time, energy and ongoing commitment. Canadian team members continue to travel to Cluj to offer fresh enthusiasm, support and encouragement. Individuals, like you, invest financially and prayerfully. Through it all, God is at work. Thank you for your ongoing prayer and support for this extension of the Muskoka Woods' P52 ministry.

Thank you to all of our amazing Campfires & Cocktails 2016 attendees, sponsors, volunteers & friends. With your help, we raised over $36,000 to send deserving youth to Muskoka Woods this summer. Thank you for all of your support, and for continuing to make this event even more memorable, year after year!

Youth Foundation Update

The last few months have been very encouraging for the Muskoka Woods Youth Foundation. In May, we celebrated raising $75,000 at our annual golf tournament. Just a few weeks later, our full-time staff, and members of our Summer Leadership team, joined together for Run Round Rosseau, raising over $50,000! This initiative supports sending local, disadvantaged youth in the Muskoka region to Muskoka Woods.
